Food and Meal Programs for Seniors

Age Well – Age well offers two types of meal programs.

Bolton Monthly Senior Dinners – The Bolton Up and Down Club offers a monthly senior dinner.  Menus are posted online and in the Bolton Gazette.

Crop Cash –  434-4122 NOFA (Northeast Organic Farmers’ Association) offers a food program to increase access to fresh food at farmers markets.  Crop Cash doubles 3SquaresVT benefits spent at farmers markets, helping households purchase more fresh produce from area farmers.  $10 of 3SquaresVT funds becomes $20 when used at local farmers markets including Burlington, Jericho, Richmond and Waterbury.

Friday Food Affair @ 5:00 Fridays at the Richmond Congregational Church –  Free community dinner (donations are accepted but not expected).  20 Church St., Richmond.

Richmond Food Shelf & Thrift Store – 802-578-4283.  The Richmond Food Shelf and Thrift Store serves the communities of Bolton, Huntington, Jonesville, and Richmond. Residents of these towns may use the food shelf two times per month.  The Richmond Food Shelf offers nutritious non-perishables, fresh (when available) and frozen foods.  58 Bridge St., Richmond.

Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL)   – 800-639-1522.  Meals on Wheels  – emergency meals, short term meals & long term meals

Vermont Department of Children and Families (DCF), Economic Services Division (ESD) –  800-479-6151.  The DCF sponsors two major food programs.

  • 3SquaresVT  – Vermont’s federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (or SNAP), a program of the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA).
  • Farm to Family  – Coupons help you buy locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables at participating  farmers’ markets.   Farm to Family is a program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Vermont Food Bank – 800-214-4648.  “The Commodity Supplemental Food Program – (CSFP) is a USDA nutrition program which offers free monthly nutrition information and nutritious foods to income-eligible senior citizens.  The CFSP is looking for more applicants. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, please contact us.”

Waterbury Food Shelf – 244-1561.  Our mission is to provide food assistance to low income families and individuals in the Waterbury area, including Bolton, Duxbury, Middlesex, Moretown, Waterbury, Waterbury Center.   57 South Main Street, Suite 3, Waterbury.

Waterbury Senior Center – 244-1234.  The Waterbury Area Senior Center provides meal delivery and offers weekday lunches for a donation 14 Stowe St., Waterbury.
