Taxes and Town Reports!

Thank you to all of the property owners who paid the third installment of property taxes on time. Your on-time payments allow the town to pay its bills! The February 1% interest has been calculated to any and all outstanding principal, and interest due/delinquent notices will be mailed on 2/20/18. Payments received with a Federal postmark of 2/15/18 will be accepted as on time.

Town Reports will be available beginning on Monday 2/19/18 (as noted on the “notice of Town Report availability” postcard). We are expecting them to be delivered from the printer that date, but are unsure of the delivery time, so if you are stopping by the Office or Smilie School to pick one up, they may not be available until late afternoon. The electronic version is available NOW on the Town of Bolton website.

Town of Bolton Firewood Lottery
Do you like affordable, local firewood?
As part of the Bolton’s Preston Pond Area Management Plan when there is logging on the PPMA, some firewood harvested from the property shall be made available to the citizens of Bolton. Logging is set to start this winter, and the Town asking for interested households to enter a lottery system for the firewood.

There will be up to 60 cords available this Winter with three cords available to each household. The cost for the wood will be $150.00 for three cords ($50/cord) to cover trucking and management of the program. The wood will be delivered in “log length” form by a logging truck and off-loaded onto your property. You must have space for three cord of log length wood as we cannot manage smaller, split loads. This wood is for personal use only, and is not to be sold by the receiving household. The lottery is limited to one entry per household, and is not open to any current Select Board members nor members of their household. Any citizens that aren’t selected to receive wood in 2018 will be first in line for winter 2019 should they re-enter the lottery next year.

To enter the lottery, please drop off a check for $150.00 and this form to the Town Office by Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 5pm. Checks should be made payable to Town of Bolton. The check will only be cashed if you are selected; otherwise, the check will be returned after the February drawing.

The Bolton Select Board has appointed two new Animal Control Officers: Jeffrey Leete and Rob Mullen.  Please contact Jeffrey and/or Rob directly for all animal complaints and/or welfare concerns.  Contact information here.

The Town of Bolton has adopted a “Policy for the Collection of Delinquent Taxes.”  The purpose of the policy is to establish clear guidelines so that all delinquent taxpayers are treated fairly and know what to expect.  The policy is available for review here.
